- Age 13 to 15 years (as on 31 March of admission year). Must have passed Class VIII from a recognized school. Admission is through AISSEE (All India Sainik School Entrance Exam) Followed by medical test & document verification.

- Application generally opens on October and last date on November
- Admission to Class IX at Sainik School Bhubaneswar is through the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE). The written exam consists of 150 MCQs (400 marks) from Mathematics (200 marks), English (50 marks), Intelligence (50 marks), General Science (50 marks), and Social Science (50 marks). The duration is 3 hours, followed by a medical examination for shortlisted candidates.
