The Thanthai Periyar Memorial Award has two prominent forms in Tamil Nadu. It is awarded as an academic scholarship for top-performing students from Backward Classes (BC), Most Backward Classes (MBC), or minority communities, and as a prestigious state honor for distinguished contributions to social justice

Eligibility
Award
- Open to students belonging to BC/MBC/DNC and minority communities who score the highest marks in their 10th Standard (SSLC) public examinations.
- Top-performing students (the highest two boys and two girls per district) receive INR 3,000 per annum for three years while pursuing a Polytechnic diploma
