AMEs diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and sign off maintenance tasks under regulations. They work at Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) units, airlines, OEM service centres or government establishments. Licensing is regulated by the DGCA; AMEs often specialise in mechanical (B1) or avionics (B2) systems.
